Dream

Every time I watch this, I will start crying like a kid...no, not of sadness, but because of the sheer overwhelming emotion called "moved". I am deeply moved by this video, and to all bikers, I hope you can feel it the way I do...

 Let's keep riding...

All the Ladies!!!!

Yes, we want to create a network. After all, there are at least 20,000 ladies who hold a motorcycle licence, and that is as of 2005. So I'm guessing the latest statistics to be at least 30,000. ;)

Of course, we know there are some lady riders who love rides into Malaysia and beyond, and there are some who, just the thought of crossing the causeway, scares them. We want to build a bond so that, hey, we can look out for each other, make friends, and help each other figure out the stuff that girls usually don't care, or know, about, like when to change engine oil, when to do whatever, where to modify girly bikes.

I know forums like singaporebikes.com have a lady rider club, but they aren't really very active. I hope to make this fun for all the girls.

Yeah, I thought creating a community like that would be nice. Even having Biker's Mums around if they want. Because we know some of them are worried, and really want to try to be supportive despite everything (because our Mums sometimes can't do much about their stubborn children's decisions).

I'm thinking of doing a small gathering for all female riders. So I'm calling out to all female riders, girlfriends, daughters and mums to come join us. See that link on top? Click there. Or just click here.

Join the club, and we'll notify you once we have an event.

Let's foster a female bonding, shall we? ;)

Your Bike: When to Change What

Hey ladies! I know a lot of you girls have this, erm...just ride and go mentality when it comes to your bikes. I'm also guilty of that. Total noob when it comes to the technical aspects. But here are some useful information I found on Singaporebikes.com which I think may be useful to us girls. At least know them if you are a rider.

This is not just for those riding the R15. Should be relevant to any class 2B motorbike.

Following info thanks to DerFuhrer:

"There are no pros and cons to our R15. It is built to ride safely and you should be enjoying every bit of it. The issue of pros and cons arrives when you start to mod your bike. Our R15 needs to be maintain and there is no compromise about it. Here,I listed down some items as your guidance only. This is what I practice on my bike.

Engine oil: Replace it every 1500km. It is always good to have fresh and quality ingredients governing and protecting your engine components. Any grade will do,Mineral,Semi synthetic or Full synthetic according to your needs and budget.

Engine oil filter: Replace it every 3 cycle of engine oil change.

Spark plug: Replace it every 5000km.

Battery: Have it check monthly and replace it once a year. Ensure sufficient power at all times. Your good mechanic will teach you how to monitor the voltage. Healthy battery reads above 13v while running and above 11.5V while on idle.

Clutch and throttle cable: Have it lubed once every 3 months.

Chain and sprocket: Lube it weekly.

Tires: Replaced it when the thread faded.

Brake fluid: Top up when it reached below max level."

Hope this comes in useful!!! =)

ThatBikerChick Will Be Launched Tonight at 7pm!

Oh my god!!! After about almost a year of conceptualizing, brainstorming, sourcing, and really just getting my butt off the "idea" and really getting it to work, we are finally going to be launched tonight at 7pm! It's been a long journey, getting the business actually registered, flying overseas to actually look at the products so I can be sure that what I will be bringing to you are stuff I will actually buy myself, then getting the capital to actually making it work. *phew*

PSB-approval can be a long and tedious and expensive process. And being kinda new to this industry, we don't really know what the authorities are looking for, since helmets with DOT and Snell or ECE approval can sometimes fail PSB. Then we gotta find out how and fix the little things so that PSB actually gives us that little sticker you see behind PSB-approved helmets.

Currently our helmets have not been PSB-approved (yet). We are working on getting PSB-approval for these helmets but that will take a while. After all, we do want riders and pillions to use our helmets with ease. Foreign bikers and pillions (eg Malaysian bikes), shop away~

Of course, if you're Singaporean and wish to collect these beautiful helmets, we won't stop you. ;)
Just so you know, the law says you may be fined $50 for using a helmet without PSB sticker.
If you want to use them, exercise discretion. Not that I know of anyone who has been stopped by TPs for wearing non-PSB-approved helmets.

I've been quite openly wearing one myself. Hey, if there are so many good reviews around the world and these helmets are used for racing overseas, I think I'm quite safe. ^.^
Then again, sources tell me TPs often stop riders outside BBDC (Bt Batok Driving Centre)  to check their helmets and licences (there are people who try to be funny by riding a Class 2A Bike to BBDC for their Class 2A lessons...)

That said, do note that if you are a learner rider, you are not allowed to wear non-PSB-approved helmets for lessons, or to go for your TP Test. What you do after you get your licence, er, no one can stop you, of course. Just make sure you are protected, somehow. Whatever it is, ride safe always!
